For those who aren’t familiar, first touches are a brilliant way for the couple to “see” each other without really seeing one another. It offers a private, intimate moment before the ceremony and can be a wonderful alternative to a “first look.” If you’re someone who wants to preserve the surprise of the first look when you walk down the aisle, a first touch is a fantastic option. It’s a beautiful balance!

One of the main reasons I adored Sara and James’s first touch so much was because they used it as an opportunity to read each other their private vows. There was something so raw and authentic about this moment. It was just them, their love, and their promise to each other – and I was lucky enough to capture it! First touches are versatile too! In addition to sharing private vows, couples can pray over their marriage, or simply hold each other’s hands. And take in the last few moments before being married. It’s a moment of stillness and anticipation, a cherished memory before the ceremony.
